Information
For nearly thirty years, large numbers of Southern Worcester County residents and many statewide political candidates have flocked to the Annual Senator Dick Moore Chicken Barbecue, often on some of the hottest days of the summer. However, for the first time, those attending will be able to enjoy air conditioning no matter how hot the day might be as they dine in the idyllic setting of the Blackstone National Golf Club in Sutton.
One of Southern Worcester County’s most popular political events, the barbecue will be held on Sunday, August 6th at Blackstone National Golf
Club in Sutton beginning at 12:30 P.M. Located just off Central Turnpike that connects Route 146 with I-395, the Club is centrally located in the heart of Senator Moore’s beloved Blackstone Valley.
It’s a new location, however, the traditional fare of roast chicken, music and politics will still be the menu. The Club’s air-conditioned tent provides less seating than has been available in the past. As a result, tickets are available by advance sale only, according to Russ Trottier of Northbridge, event chair.
Several statewide and area legislative candidates have said they plan to attend to meet the senator’s supporters and friends as they test the waters of the fall’s campaign season. Senator Moore’s famous “Chicken Poll” will again be held to give area residents an opportunity to express their preference for governor, lieutenant governor, and secretary of state in the September 19, 2006 Democratic primary.
Music for listening or dancing will be provided, and tickets at $25 per person may be obtained by sending a check to Moore for Senate Committee, P. O. Box 496, Uxbridge, MA 01569 or by calling (508-234-9555).
